Each year we take two trips, one to Disney during the summer, and one to Snowbound in the mountains of Colorado in February. There are always a lot of moving parts, as one can imagine. We never let cost become an issue with kids attending events or trips with YFC. These are hard times for many financially and we offer scholarships for our trips.
Looking back on our summer trip, we spent time in the office at 9:30am one Wednesday morning praying over all aspects of the trip. One of our prayers was for provisions. We left the office at 10:30am, and by 11:00am we had a received a donation for the exact amount of scholarship money needed from a first-time donor. It was an answered prayer. It was no coincidence that it was for the exact amount that was needed and there is no way this particular donor knew what the number was. We knew that God had His hand in this.
This allowed three students to come with us and enabled us to share the love of Jesus with them, affirm them, and do life with them. Each of these students are forever changed with the awesome memories of this trip and knowing that God and us as leaders are advocating for them daily in all that they do. They are not doing life alone.
We are in this mission together. Each person involved from financial partners, volunteers, parents, site leaders, students, and all the people behind the scenes play a part in raising up this amazing next generation. The kids involved in our program know we are all advocating for them and that they are loved.
As we move into this year, we ask for everyone’s prayers for us in our mission and to join alongside us in any capacity you feel called. We love this generation of students. They were built for these times and need adult advocates to walk with them, affirm them, and help each individual write their own amazing story.
Thank you for being a part of the ongoing conversation with youth in our city and helping us share God’s story. It’s our honor to be the storytellers on your behalf who meet kids right where they are and give life to their story.
