story

I’ve been meeting with “X” for the past few months where he eagerly participates in Bible study and even suggested some Christian rap videos for me to download. I felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit to talk to him about his own relationship with Jesus.

“My mom is a big believer but I’m just not sure if being a Christian is for me. I think there are some people that it’s meant for and I’m not sure it’s for me.”

We talked about God’s love for everyone and His invitation for all people into eternal life and love. X has a 1-year-old son and I showed him that his love for his son is a small version of how God loves him as a son.

I think X knows it would mean giving up being in a gang and starting a new life which might be a bit scary to step into. But he is most likely going to get custody of his son and his life will look radically different when he gets out in Spring.

“I know you want to be a good father to your son. God is pursuing you and I think you’re drawn to him as well. But one of these days you will have to make a decision about Jesus for yourself.”

Thank you for being a part of the ongoing conversation with youth in our city and helping us share God’s story.  It’s our honor to be the storytellers on your behalf who meet kids right where they are and give life to their story.

Providing young people in our community with the opportunity to make an informed decision to be a follower of Jesus  Christ and become part of a local church.
